Are you Making a Life or a Living? PDF Print E-mail

Let’s talk about life for a minute. Are you making a living or making a life? Is there a difference? Think about it for a couple of seconds. In today’s fast paced society do we ever stop and think, what do I really want from my life? Most of us exchange our time for money and vice versa, which means we have money and no time to enjoy it or no money and a lot of time. Whatever the combination is for you is for you to decide.

We all know or have heard of someone who died doing something they were passionate about. The best example I can think of is Steve Irwin who died filming a wildlife documentary. There is someone who lived a life as opposed to making a living. Do you think he died worrying about bills? I strongly doubt it. Did he wake up to an alarm clock and say to himself Bugga here we go again, unlikely.

So, how do we go from making a living to making a life? What is holding us back? If we are in control of our destiny then we must be the only ones holding us back. Our fears and our emotions in combination with decisions we made when we were kids, that have now become strategies as adults, have the ability to squash the greatest of dreams. Let’s face it we all dream of a better life and quite often we dispel this dream as hopeless as a result of previous decisions and evidence we have gathered that make these decisions our truths or reality.

I’ve tried that and it didn’t work out. How many times have we heard that? Just saying something like that would tell me you have a belief around that statement that is holding you back from achieving the life you truly desire.

My intention here is to create thought and self awareness. If you have read all this and are thinking Yeah well you should walk a mile in my shoes, there is a very good chance I already have.

Finally I challenge you to think outside your current circumstance and move toward the life you desire.
